Scottish Summit for Peak Performers
'Your imaginative and creative ideas combined with
your inexorable attention to detail and relentless pursuit of quality
with value delivered results beyond our (already high) expectations.'
'In particular, I deeply appreciate your responsiveness
and sense of professionalism. Your instinctive ability to focus on both
the technical content as well as the emotional impact of the event also
proved crucial.'
A Challenging Brief
When management consultancy, The Concours Group, approached Elizabeth
Floyd with a challenging brief, Hello Scotland was asked to rise to the
challenge. The Massachusetts based company wanted "to create an event
that was so well designed that it would attract large numbers of participants
but also persuade them to stay for an additional two days."
The team at Hello set about creating a social programme around the formal
summit that attracted a group of 25 senior management and their partners
from across Europe and Asia.
An Imaginative Programme
 |
The group started on a high with a jeep safari
up into the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Wild game and wine were
served for lunch while the group enjoyed the magnificent panoramic
views and learnt about the wildlife and the flora.
On the following day, the non-delegates enjoyed
a short trip to Edinburgh and visited the Royal Yacht Britannia,
followed by afternoon tea and then off back once more to the luxury
of the St. Andrews Old Course Hotel, overlooking the world famous
golf course.
|
The next day consisted of principally meetings and
golf but it ended in a traditional Scottish Ceilidh evening. This was
preceded by cocktails on the lawn which were combined with a 'Duck Dog
Display', an intriguing variation on a traditional sheep dog display and
yes there were a few surviving ducks at the end!
| On the penultimate day, while the
delegates participated in the summit, their partners were treated
to a very special day with one of Scotland's finest Chefs, Christopher
Trotter. His restaurant, 'Scotland's Larder' in Fife, was a celebration
of Scottish cooking set within a wonderful rustic village environment.
|
 |
The party had an interactive introduction to table
décor with a Scottish flavour using natural elements and were shown
how to prepare different dishes... the Scottish way in fact they
made their own lunch with venison included on the menu. They finally sat
down to enjoy what they had made and this was washed down with a wine
and champagne tasting led by a wine and champagne expert.
The Gentlemen's Only Club
Before the evening kicked off, Hello Managing Director, Bill Thomson
convened a Gentleman's Only Meeting with strictly no ladies allowed.
We aren't at liberty to disclose what went on behind closed
doors but we do know that there was malt whisky in the room and a
rack of kilts and sporrans! An incredibly useful piece of clothing,
the sporran, you know! |
 |
 |
With the ladies
also dressed for dinner, the party set off to Glamis Castle where
a six-course banquet was laid on. The evening was flavoured in a typical
Scottish way with a variety of traditional music and the finale took
the form of a 'Beating of the Retreat', an emotional and unforgettable
assault on the senses performed by the 20 World Class performers from
The Royal Burgh of Stirling Pipe Band. |
Highest Ranked Event
The event was scored by the guests 3.9 out of 4.0
the highest score in the five-year history of Concours!
